Refunds & cancellation
Written plainly, because this is the page people read after something has gone wrong.
Before reading begins
Cancel any time before the manuscript is opened and you receive a full refund, no questions and no admin fee. Just email and say so.
Once reading has begun
A pro-rata refund of up to 50% is available until the halfway point of the manuscript. After that, the reading that this fee pays for has substantially been done, and the fee is retained.
If a deadline is missed
If I miss an agreed delivery date without giving you a revised date in advance, you may cancel for a full refund or take a 25% reduction on the delivered work. Your choice, not mine.
If the Kill Clause is triggered
The fee is retained and you receive a private Editorial Diagnostic Report instead of a public review. This is not a refund situation, and it is stated up front on the pricing page, the policy page and in your quote for exactly that reason. Why it works this way.
What is not refundable
- Dissatisfaction with an honest review's verdict, where the review is accurate and professionally written.
- A change of mind after delivery.
- Commercial outcomes — sales, rankings or reader response — which no editorial service can warrant.
Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong, email me first. A chargeback raised without contacting me costs both of us money and takes months, and I have never yet had a dispute that a direct conversation could not settle faster.
How refunds are paid
Refunds are processed through Paystack to the original payment method, in rand, usually within five to ten business days. Exchange-rate movement between payment and refund is a matter between you and your bank.
