Prices are set in South African rand and charged in rand through Paystack. The dollar figures are a guide only — your bank converts at its own rate on the day. Manuscripts over 100 000 words carry an add-on of R220 for each additional 10 000 words, quoted before you pay.

Add-ons and adjustments

ItemPriceWhen it applies
Length add-onR220 per 10 000 wordsManuscripts over 100 000 words. Quoted in writing before payment, never applied after delivery.
Blurb package added to a review tierR650Instead of R950, because the book has already been read.
Second revision roundR250One round is included on blurb work. Reviews are not revised on request — that would make them something other than reviews.
Priority scheduling+35%Moves you to the front of the queue. It shortens the wait, never the reading.

How payment works

  1. Brief first, money second

Nothing is charged until the word count is confirmed, the scope is agreed and you have a fixed price and a date in writing. That is deliberate: it is how scope creep gets caught before it becomes a dispute.

  2. A secure Paystack link

Paystack is a Stripe company, licensed in South Africa. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted from anywhere, along with local EFT and instant bank transfer for South African clients. Card details never touch this website.

  3. Receipt, then upload

Paystack emails the receipt immediately. Upload instructions follow the same day, and the reading clock starts when the manuscript lands, not when the payment does.

Before you pay, read the Kill Clause. If a book honestly scores under three stars, the public review is killed and you receive a private Editorial Diagnostic Report instead. The fee is retained in that case, because the reading has been done either way. This is the one term people most need to understand up front — the full policy is here.

Prices shown are in South African rand and exclude any VAT that may become applicable. Currency conversions are indicative. Refunds and cancellation terms.

Tell me about the book.

No payment is taken until the brief is read, the word count is confirmed and the price is agreed in writing. If the book is not a fit, I will say so and point you somewhere better.
